Like most people on the planet I want to pay as little as possible for my airline tickets! What tips do you swear by to keep your flight costs down? I tend to use kayak.com and other "comparison" sites as sometimes even flying a day before or after your intended date could save you significant amounts of money!

Checking flight prices on Tuesdays is a good tip. Most flight prices go down on Tuesdays so if you plan on traveling out over the weekend, get your tickets the Tuesday before. Also, certain times of the year are cheaper. September, October, February, and March are usually the cheapest months to travel.

That's interesting, why do flights go down in price on a Tuesday?

Believe some flights are cheaper Mon-WEd, not always...But due to the way airlines manage their sales, starting in the beginning of the week and ending before the weekend begins. So price will spike before the weekend.

Ive heard best to avoid booking late at night later in the week

It is said that Wednesday and Thursdays are the cheapest days to fly and Saturdays are the most expensive. I guess this is down to work schedules and school schedules. They know more people fly on the weekends then in the middle of the week.
